Clomid has been the cornerstone of female fertility treatment since the introduction of its first-generation compound, Clomiphene citrate. This drug stimulates the pituitary gland to produce a hormone, FSH (follicle-stimulating hormone), which then promotes the release of LH (luteinizing hormone). FSH and LH are hormones that work to grow and release eggs in the ovaries. The drug is typically administered orally at the dosage of 50-100mg/day and taken daily, usually for 3-5 days. This drug is also used off-label for its potential to improve fertility in women who are at a higher risk of developing ovarian cancer.
Clomid is classified as a selective estrogen receptor modulator (SERM) because it mimics the effects of estrogen, a hormone that is known to stimulate the production of follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) and luteinizing hormone (LH). FSH and LH are hormones that stimulate the ovaries to produce eggs. The drug binds to the estrogen receptor, which stimulates the release of FSH and LH.
Clomid works by blocking the action of estrogen in the body. It tricks the body into thinking estrogen is not needed, which helps to stimulate ovulation. Clomid can also trigger an egg to be released, making it an option for women who do not ovulate regularly.
Clomid stimulates ovulation. Clomid stimulates ovulation in approximately 80% of women, although it may take up to 4 to 6 cycles for the normal release of LH and FSH.
Clomid mimics the effects of estrogen. It tricks the body into thinking estrogen is not needed. Clomid inhibits the action of estrogen in the body. This results in the release of FSH and LH from the pituitary gland. This LH surge stimulates the ovaries to produce follicles. The FSH and LH surge also trigger ovulation.
While Clomid is generally well-tolerated, it may cause some side effects, including:
At its core, Clomid is a prescription medication that is typically only used as part of a broader treatment plan. It is important to note that Clomid is not a cure for infertility; it is only intended for women who need it to conceive.

The typical starting dose of Clomid is 50 mg, which is taken once daily. The dosage for women should be determined by a healthcare provider. Typically, 50 mg is the standard dose for women who have not responded well to other treatments.

Hi there, my name is Chris, and I'm a 35-year-old woman from Toronto. I have been doing cycles of Clomid for over 30 years now, and this cycle is my first cycle of Clomid. I started Nolvadex as a cycle, but it was my first cycle that was really difficult. I had been on it for a year and I couldn't go back, so I switched to Clomid. In the last 6 months, I had a lot of issues with my endocrine system, as well as my ovarian reserve. I had an ultrasound done a few months ago, and I found out that I was in severe hypogonadism. I was concerned that it might affect my cycle and that I would end up with infertility. I am currently in the process of trying Clomid, but it seems that my endocrine system is working well and I am going to try to have more cycles this cycle. I have had success with a number of other fertility treatments, including IVF. I have had success with ovulation induction medications, which have been very effective. I was also given a Clomid (Clomiphene Citrate) and I am on it for 3 months. I was hoping to get on the nolvadex this cycle, but it did not work. I have tried other Clomid cycles as well, and my endocrine system seems to be working very well. I am taking a few different cycles, and I am hoping that this may help me to get more cycles. If anyone has any feedback, I would be very grateful, and if you have any suggestions I would be happy to listen.
